Description: Art and Urban Sustainability is a theory- and studio-based course that addresses, in four units, public art, community art, environmental art and issues of sustainability as they relate to Camden, New Jersey. We will consider the strategies utilized by arts organizations and individuals who are successfully creating sustainable practices in an inner-city context. Students will author proposals for projects for the city of Camden in the areas of public art, community art, environmental art and sustainability practice and will participate in one civically engaged sustainability project in the community.
