Art and Climate Change

Description: This course is an introduction to the creative practice of art making focused on the intersection between art and climate change. Students will learn practical mechanics and techniques of working with mixed media and hone their creative problem-solving skills. Examples of current and historic artwork and climate change issues will inform our course dialogue as we attempt to answer the question: Can art promote awareness, inspire activism and advocate for climate change mitigation? Demonstrations, lectures, sketchbook assignments, critiques and gallery/museum visits will supplement studio work.
